1968 CHEVROLET AND PONTIACS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE

General Motors-Holden's have released the 1968 versions of the Chevrolet and Pontiac for Australia. Both cars are basically the same as the '67 models, but have been given minor face-lifts with new grilles, re-styled bumpers and different tail lights.
The Chevrolet is available as a hardtop and sedan, but the Pontiac only comes in hardtop form. All three are powered by an improved version of the 327 cubic inch V8 engine which this year develops 250 bhp, 10 bhp more than last year.
Both makes fill all the requirements of the U.S. Government safety regulations and are also equipped with a warning buzzer as an anti-theft device. This wonderful idea reminds the driver to remove the ignition key before leaving the car. The Pontiac also has windscreen wipers that are concealed under the curved edge of the bonnet.
Standard equipment includes an 11 transistor push-button radio, electric clock, full carpeting and power steering. Power-assisted drum brakes are still used. Frigidaire Air Conditioning is still an option.
Prices have risen considerably. The Chevrolet Impala Sedan is $6,590 (it was $5,820), the hardtop $6,680 (was $6,370) and the Pontiac Parisienne $6,920 (was $6,555).
